East End
Intensive Survey of Duluth’s East End Neighborhood
An extensive multi-phase historic resource survey documenting the architecture, cultural significance, and preservation of Duluth’s East End neighborhood. Conducted beginning in 2006, the survey cataloged more than 200 historic homes and buildings—primarily constructed before 1930—to support preservation planning, public reference, and the work of the Duluth Heritage Preservation Commission. Covering areas from 21st Avenue East through Endion and London Road, the reports highlight the neighborhood’s development as a prominent residential district for many of Duluth’s early affluent families and examine the architectural integrity and historical importance of its late 19th- and early 20th-century homes.
