St. James Parish School

715 N 57th Ave W
The St. James Parish School was built in 1913 and first opened in the 1914 school year. Club rooms for various church organizations and auditorium for 1,000 people were features of the construction, which was also fireproof throughout. St. James Parish spent $50,000 to built the school. About 400-500 students were expected the first year, which was seen as necessary to help with the problem of congested West Duluth schools in the 1910s.
The building continues to operate as a private Catholic school.
