Marvin Gollinger House

1955 Hartley Road was built in 1957 for the Marvin Gollinger family. Mr. Gollinger was an asphalt contractor by profession and was known to occasionally bring home the leftovers at the end of a job, applying “one more layer” to his own driveway. They lived here for about 20 years. Irving “Butch” Curran then purchased it and lived here for about 20 years. Still later it was purchased by Rick (Richard) and Laura Hanson, who also made it their home for 20 years.

The home has undergone several renovations over the decades, including the removal of a wall between the kitchen/dining areas. The original foyer featured a lake-themed mural, now gone, as well as a curved glass wall in the kitchen, which also has been removed. However, the moss-green slate in the foyer is original. The upstairs bathrooms had drinking fountain- style faucet attachments and there was an intercom/music system throughout. The mud room in the back was constructed when the third garage stall was added. The lower level was finished about 20 years ago. Recently the original wood trim was painted white and the kitchen was renovated for at least the second time.
