Thomas Feigh Orphanage

1600 North 8th Avenue East

Thomas Feigh Orphanage opened in 1915, and like many buildings at its time, boasted its modern amenities. It was designed by William T. Bray of Duluth at a cost of $40,000. This eclectic building features styles of Gothic, Classical, and Romanesque.

Built at the far end of 8th Avenue East, its site was chosen for being both healthful in its natural surroundings, yet close enough to Duluth’s city center. Today, the building now houses the Summit School.
