Join the Duluth Preservation Alliance for a one-of-a-kind evening exploring the art, stories, and surprising history of the WPA’s Federal Art Project in Northern Minnesota.

Blending humor with history, Duluth artists Brian and Sue Matuszak will share the stories of regional artists and the public works they created as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Works Progress Administration in 1935. Some of these pieces still exist today—quietly woven into our communities—while others have vanished under mysterious (and sometimes not-so-mysterious) circumstances.

This engaging presentation offers a fresh, accessible look at an important chapter in our region’s cultural history—told with creativity, curiosity, and plenty of personality.
