NEW DATE: Take a Hike on Old Skyline Parkway

1314 Commonwealth Avenue, Duluth, MN 55808, USA

THE EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO SUNDAY DUE TO THE RAINY FORECAST FOR SATURDAY.  SAME TIME AND PLACE.

Join Doug Stevens on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22 for a walk along the old Mission Creek segment of Skyline Parkway where cars once crossed over seven bridges. The Mission Creek segment opened in 1927 and closed after a flood on July 1, 1958.

We will meet at the Trophy Cafe in Gary at 1314 Commonwealth Avenue at 10:00am and drive to the entrance off of Beck’s Road. Leaving cars there and at the other entrance off of Highway 210. Then we will walk 2 1/4 miles from Beck’s Road to Highway 210. The hike lasts about an hour.

This will be a great opportunity to learn about how this section of the parkway came into being! You will be crossing Mission Creek in two places, which will involve some rock hopping. Please make sure you wear footwear at can stand getting a little wet.

This is a free event, but please RSVP so we have a sense of how many people are coming. Thank you!
