Only recently has research uncovered that Frederick German designed this Prairie style home for Edward and Rose Silbertsein, son and daughter-in-law of Bernard and Nettie Silberstein (see #14). Edward worked as secretary and general manager for his father’s Silberstein & Bondy Dry Goods store. In 1904 German added a fourth floor to George Wirth’s 1884 Silberstein-Bondy building at 11 West Superior Street; the building contains Duluth’s first elevator, which is still operational.
