Due to popular demand, the Duluth Preservation Alliance is once again hosting a hike down the historic Incline steps. This will be the same hike that we did on June 1st, 2016.
Please join Doug Stevens and Bob Berg at 7:00 pm and walk the same steps that rose up alongside the old Incline Station which opened in 1891 and was sadly lost in 1939. We will walk down only and shuttle people back up to their cars. Afterward we will go to the Incline Station for conversation and refreshments.
The hike will start where the old pavilion was at 8th Street above Skyline Parkway. Look for the old weather station as a landmark at 731 West Skyline Parkway. Volunteers will direct you as to where to park. (There is parking on Skyline and above.) Once we know how many people will be there, we will drive some cars to the bottom on First Street near Mesabi Ave and the Bethel where there is also parking. This way you won’t have to walk back up. Wear comfortable shoes!
This will definitely be a must walk for people interested in the history of this lost attraction!
Update on June 6, 2017: It was a gorgeous night and over 50 people attended. In addition, 20-25 of the attendees went to the Incline Station afterward. It was a very fun event.
