2015 Preservation Award featured in Duluth News Tribune

The Duluth Preservation Alliance will present its annual awards Monday night for outstanding efforts to restore and maintain historic homes and structures in Duluth.

The Lake Superior Zoological Society’s work to restore the Depression-era pavilion and enclose it to make it a three-season event center is among those projects being honored. Other plaques will be awarded to the following:

  • Ira and Elva Stoddard House, 4231 Luverne St., built in 1922. Owner: Linda Pelinski.
  • Wayland and Helen Sanford House, 2232 E. First St., built in 1894-95. Owners: Mary Pat Renaud and Thomas Griffin.
  • John and Mary Killorin House, 2708 Branch St., built in 1914. Owners: William and Dolly Schnell.
  • Arthur and Esther Ringsred House, 1619 E. Seventh St., built in 1922. Owners: Laura and Marty Weintraub.
  • Percy and Lydia Anneke Summer House, 4500 Minnesota Ave., built in 1908. Owners: Tom and Jane Wallin.
  • Chester and Clara Congdon’s “Glensheen,” 3300 London Road, built in 1905-09. Owner: University of Minnesota Duluth.

Several others will receive Letters of Recognition, and six well-maintained homes reaching the 100-year mark or older with their original features intact will be recognized as well.
